Design thinking is a mindset, not a tool kit or a series of steps

Synopsis

Facilitators

We led a group to envision new ideas and solutions by applying concepts of design thinking. We did this by curating simulations and group exercises that foster creative solutions among a group of
non-design people.

Target Audience

SCAD Serve

Serve exists to educate and foster life-learning and social responsibility to provide students with a chance to serve the Savannah community through volunteering.

Problem Statement

The SCAD serve team was struggling in a few areas such as volunteer outreach, lack of time to bond as a team and frustration with volunteers not taking their work seriously.

There is an opportunity to help SCAD SERVE have increased synergy among the team so that they may find ways for their volunteers to follow through on their commitment to SCAD Serve events.

How might we use concepts of design thinking to facilitate creative thinking among members of the SCAD SERVE team to function as a seamless unit in order to successfully manage events where student volunteers follow through on their commitment to participate
